How do I know I'm making the right decision?
This is a question I often get asked, and here I will give you some guidance on how to make it as simple as possible.
Read all three tips and see how you could apply it to your life when you are SO CONFUSED!!.
You often hear Life Coaches say “Unlock your potential!”… but what does that truly mean?
It simply means to get out of your own way, and to find a path to the life you truly want. ...And it's the best feeling in the world! You know when you are following a REALLY SLOW driver, and he finally turns off? ...Ahhhhh!!
Unlocking your potential is also to make empowered decisions that shape your future.
I guide my clients in decision-making, and I'm here to share three essential tips that can transform the way you approach choices, using what I call your internal compass system.
If you live your life at full speed, without thinking about the decisions you make, and you love the result, you likely have a good internal compass system that allows you to check in with yourself without realising it.
If you tend to find that you often make the same mistakes, you feel stuck, you procrastinate, or you always ask your friends for advice, or you regret most decisions you make, it’s time to slow down and the pointers below will be helpful.
1. Check in with your values
Whether you are aware of your values or not, they are there and guide the way you feel when you act, talk or behave in a certain way, and when you are put in certain circumstances. Before making a decision, ask yourself if it aligns with your core values. Embracing choices that resonate with who you truly are will lead to a more rewarding and purpose-driven life. You will find that you second-guess yourself a lot more, and you will trust yourself more as well. Per example, I will happily spend on a course or a workshop because I value growth. The decision to spend is easier.
2. Consider Your Future Self
Every decision you make today influences the person you become tomorrow. Take a moment to envision your desired future. Will this decision push you towards your goals? Consider the future impact of today’s decisions. It is not about worrying and over-thinking here; it is about building a sustainable and pleasant future for yourself. Per example, I’m not putting a load of washing on after 3pm because guess who’s got to hang it up at 7pm!?!
3. Confirm Alignment with Your Life Vision
Having a clear vision of your desired life is crucial for making informed decisions. Do your choices contribute to your overall vision? Do they support your personal growth, career advancement, or wellbeing? Per example, I dream of a quiet life in a tiny house – I’m not going to build a business that requires me to work 70 hours per week. Mastering the art of decision-making is a transformative skill that can elevate your personal and professional life.
