No Time For Burnout

Coming Soon - Evidence-Based, Practical Book

A practical, research-informed book to understand and prevent burnout.

Written for high-performing, caring people who love what they do but are running on empty.

Burnout won’t happen overnight.

It follows a predictable pattern. And when we understand that pattern, we can interrupt it before exhaustion takes over.

Sophie Anderson's book will be a simple, visual, evidence-aligned resource that will help individuals recognise their burnout risks early, take meaningful action, and support sustainable resilience at every stage.

It addresses the science of stress, the lived reality of modern work, and the emotional experience of high-performing humans. Most importantly, it gives practical tools and steps to never worry about burnout again.

Is this you?

  • You’re capable, committed and high-performing.

  • People rely on you, and you can't really say no when they need you.

  • You’re tired but still functioning.

  • You can’t fully switch off, even when nothing urgent is happening.

  • Resting and taking breaks feels VERY uncomfortable.

  • You look successful on the outside… but you know you're not at your best.

You are not failing. You are over-functioning.

And you need to do something about it before it's too late.

I've got you, and this book's for you.

Why this book exists

Most burnout books start after collapse. This one starts before. I myself have never burnt out, even though I have been on the path many times. I am constantly applying what is in this book to stay well.

While burnout research - including the work of Christina Maslach - helps us understand burnout once it happens, very few resources teach professionals how to recognise AND interrupt the early stages.

My book introduces practical tools and strategies designed for people who are still performing, still responsible, still ambitious... but running close to empty.

Because burnout is not sudden. It is gradual. Predictable. And preventable.

"Most people have car insurance, home insurance, pet insurance… yet they forget to apply the same prevention strategy to their mental health."

-Sophie Anderson

Finally a Book You Will Read and Use

My promise: I won't give you a lot of data and fluff around burnout.

I won’t tell you to:

  • say no to everything and everyone

  • abandon your ambition

  • blame the system, toughen up, and push through

  • start this, stop that... basically I won't give you one-size-fits-all advice.

Instead, I will help you explore:

  • How burnout develops, and what you will see and experience as it becomes more serious

  • The early nervous system signals most people ignore and push through

  • How to balance demands and resources every day to avoid depletion, without saying no to everything and everyone

  • A range of practical tools for self-regulation, boundaries and energy management - all sorted in a way that's easy to find when you need it

  • Simple daily micro-shifts that protect performance and wellbeing, and help you develop resilience.

Resilience isn't what most of us think it is.

It's not pushing through exhaustion. Not soldiering on. Not toxic positivity when things are clearly not right.

It's an inner flexibility: the ability to ride the waves without getting swept away. It is built through habits, boundaries, and recovery practices that let you perform sustainably, for the long haul.

That's the skill this book teaches.

"Burnout isn't a personal flaw. And it won't fix itself."

A visual model you will love

The Anderson Model of Burnout and Personal Resilience™ (AMBPR™) is the backbone of this book.

It maps the predictable path from high pressure → over-functioning → depletion, and gives you a clear, structured pathway back to resilience.

Now I understand that you won't carry the model around and pull it out when you are feeling overwhelmed!

The goal of the AMBPR™ is to help you know exactly where you are, to give you a language for what you are experiencing, and to know what to do next.

Why this Book Matters for Individuals and Organisations

For Individuals

Sophie's book helps you:

  • Recognise early signs before they become exhaustion

  • Break free from over-functioning patterns

  • Regain confidence, clarity, and energy

  • Build sustainable habits that prevent burnout

It gives people language for what they're experiencing, and a roadmap out.

For Workplaces and Leaders

Burnout is a systemic and organisational challenge with huge negative impacts on your organisation's results and success. You know it - it is not an individual challenge only.
Sophie's book helps leaders:

  • Quickly identify early signs in their team

  • Understand what their employees cannot articulate

  • Respond appropriately to each phase

  • Reduce turnover, absenteeism, and errors

  • Support performance and wellbeing without the guesswork

Leaders learn that the “problem” is rarely motivation; the people who are most likely to burnout are our high performers, and high achievers.
Burnout is an imbalance between demands and resources (real, perceived, internal, or external), and there is a lot you can act on. The AMBPR™ makes that visible, and the book will help you apply its wisdom.
