5 Essential tips to becoming a morning person

What do your mornings look like?

Do you wake up feeling rushed, disorganised, and unprepared for the day ahead? Do you run around the house getting yourself and everyone else ready? Do you get to work feeling worked up already, and realising you left your lunch behind (again)?

Most importantly, do you dream of having a few moments of quiet and calm before the daily craziness sets in? Time to drink a hot coffee, to wake up properly and do something that brings energy and positivity into your day?

If this sounds tempting, becoming a morning person may be just what you need.

There's no right or wrong

There are also benefits of being a night owl. There's no right or wrong, and you should simply do what works best for you, and to let your internal clock and your ideal lifestyle guide what's best for you.

This being said, waking up early for me was always a goal. I feel more productive, I have higher levels of concentration and energy, and I feel happier overall since I started gettin up at 5.30am.

The honest truth

I wasn’t always a morning person, and it's now my favourite part of the day. The truth is, it took time to create this new habit and to get to like it. I get up at 5.30am, 7 days a week but I must be perfectly honest: I can’t allow myself to hesitate at all otherwise it won’t happen. It's been quite a journey... I even had to quit drinking alcohol to be able to implement this!

Soph's morning routine spot! Nothing's fancy, and the guitar is definitely not part of it 😂

There are ways to ease into this new routine, and we are here to inspire you.

5 tips to becoming a morning person

1. Set a consistent wake-up time

Setting a consistent wake-up time is crucial in establishing a morning routine. Set your alarm for the same time every day, even on weekends. No snoozing!

2. Prepare your space the night before

Create a peaceful environment for your morning routine. Choose a spot in your house where you can be comfortable and relaxed. Prepare your space thoughtfully, set out your workout clothes, journal, yoga mat, coffee machine, or whatever you need for your morning routine, so everything is ready to go.

3. Improve your evening routine

Your evening routine will impact the quality of your sleep and the ease of waking up in the morning. Wind down before bedtime by reading, meditating, or taking a warm bath.

4. Share your plans with loved ones

Letting your partner or family members know about your new morning routine can help them understand how important it is to you. It may also encourage them to create a morning routine of their own.

5. Keep your end goal in mind

Remind yourself why you want to become a morning person. Whether it's to have some "me-time" or to start your day off with a productive mindset, keep your end goal in mind to stay motivated
